For example, you are submitting a render job for 3ds Max Design 2011 64-Bit- The other machines on network using Backburner Server only have 3ds Max Design 2011 32-Bit installed- the render will fail when submitted unless you also install 3ds Max Design 2011 64-Bit on all machines to load the Backburner plugin when the job is submitted. If matching version of the Backburner plugin is not installed, the render will fail. The Backburner plugins are installed alongside the install of 3ds Max or 3ds Max Design and are loaded by Backburner on startup. Note: With Backburner, you need to match the version of the Backburner plugins across all machines participating in the Network Render. The only supported method for installing 3ds Max’s backburner plugin onto a Backburner Manager machine is to install 3ds Max or 3ds Max Design on the manager (since 3ds Max or 3ds Max Design installs the Backburner plugins at same time during install) For 3ds Max to be able to specify Timeout override values for the Manager, the Manager needs to load the 3ds Max Backburner plugin to extend the Manager Timeout abilities. Timeout overrides are managed by the Backburner manager.
